Concert/Symphonic Band
Students will learn the principles of tone quality, tuning, technique and timing. Level 3-4 performance standards are achieved through the study and performance of grade 3-4 band literature. Opportunity for solo and small ensemble experience is included. Students will develop individual musicianship as well as group performing skills. Students are encouraged to learn all 12 major and minor scales. Two school concerts per year, All-District and All-State Honor Band auditions, Music Performance Adjudication (MPA), and Solo and Ensemble Festival are just a few of the events that this course will participate in. All-State Band, Marching may be included. Marching Band Music may also be included.
Wind Ensemble
Level 6 performance standards are achieved through the study of grade 5 and 6 band literature. The wind ensemble performs the most difficult literature and includes the most advanced student musicians. Opportunities for solo and small ensemble experience is included. Students will develop individual musicianship as well as group performing skills. Students will learn all 12 major and minor scales. Four school concerts per year, All-District and All-State Honor Band auditions, Music Performance Adjudication (MPA), and Solo and Ensemble Festival are just a few of the events that this course will participate in. All-State Band, Marching may be included.
AP Music Theory
This class is for serious music students to prepare for freshman college theory and/or to expand their musical knowledge. The course deals with the technique of written composition, ear training, form, analysis, aesthetics, and physics of sounds.
